The Payroll Manager is responsible for managing the personnel, functions, and processes of the Payroll Department with an emphasis on upholding our core values, streamlining processes, and supporting our department. It is the role of the Payroll Manager to ensure the other payroll staff are properly utilized and trained, as well as to keep the latest payroll changes abreast and implemented within our systems. Participates in developing and implementing the department’s best practices, including systems projects in partnership with the HR team. The Payroll Manager is responsible for the integrity of payroll records, including an accurate record of hours worked, time off, rate changes, retroactive pay, tax information, address changes, and related benefits deductions.


  • Management of the payroll department which includes management of workload, delegation of duties/tasks, goals creation/execution, and annual reviews
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
  • Oversee all Payroll related audits – Union, OCIP, etc
  • Manages and oversees weekly payroll processing across all companies
  • Organizes prioritizes and assigns to staff department’s overall goals and objectives. Ensures the department functions in a timely and efficient manner
  • Participates in developing and implementing the department’s best practices, including systems projects
  • Oversee & review WC and GL claim reporting to the captive insurance carrier
  • Facilitate annual pay raises and bonus runs
  • Manage employee loan tracking for annual payroll processing
  • Oversee payroll to General ledger account reconciliations


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Familiarity with payroll applications. Management skills. 
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and ability to resolve disputes effectively
